#1 Byrnes (SC) Survives First Half Scare From North Gwinnett

By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

At halftime of the Progressive Football Challenge, it looked like North Gwinnett was going to prove that the Byrnes Rebels were not worthy of the #1 ranking that bestowed upon the team by USA Today. However, like all good teams with proven leadership, the Rebels put up four second half touchdowns that brought the team back from a 14-9 halftime deficit to defeat last year's Georgia Class AAAAA runner-up 36-21.

First Day of Practice in Georgia

Hot and humid weather welcomed teams to the practice fields around Georgia this morning for the first day of practice. After living two years in Atlanta, I know that football reigns supreme, and the fans love and want a winner!

That's why a story on head coaching changes in the Atlanta Journal Constitution caught my eye. There are 95 new head coaches this year, which equates to a 25-percent turnover rate.
